My postcode is SW13. It’s very far away from my accommodation and the centre of London. But this is the reason why I chose the postcode.I found it at the map.As I expected ,there are a quiet town. There are many ways to reach the town.I arrived here by foot at the first time. It’s so tired. And I also try to arrive there by bus, underground and train.

It’s a very good and comfortable place to live or have a holiday. The air is very fresh. There are many ponds and parks. And what I am interested is the plants. There are many kinds of plants.Although I don’t know their name, their colour and shape are very various .When you walked at the street in the town, it was a real walk. You don’t need to hurry. At the weekend, people will walk with their friends and their family, even the pet at the park. They chatted with each other at the grass and enjoyed their picnic.

London wetland centre has been the postcode. And I visited the place. There are many kinds of ducks and wild life about wetland and many plants. I collected my different leaves and flowers. When it comes to the town, I will think of some words, such as ‘wild’,’plants’,’green’,’life’ and so on.

In the Barnes, I saw a variety of leaves, different shapes, different colours. They gave me inspiration to develop my idea.I also want to add a word ‘leave’.Actually,it’s fallen leave. In China, there is an idiom ‘fallen leaves return to roots’. In other words, it means getting home.I did something about typography because the colourful glass windows of church in the Barnes.

But what I confused is how to make a poster.I have words. But I don’t know how to put the picture or items with the words.

toolbox inductions

We have many courses about different toolbox  inductions.I am interested in screen printing and letterpress.Maybe it’s very related to graphic design.

Screen printing is a printing technique . In my view ,it’s a traditional method to print, but it’s interesting and cool.In the lesson ,the teacher taught us to use two colours to print a picture.Screen printing looks easy to handle but actually when you want to use it to print your own images, it needs many processes and time.

Letterpress is also a traditional method to print. It was first invented in China, the movable type. It’s also interesting and cool. But ,I think that it’s not easy to use compared to the screen printing.Letterpress has many types, such as metal type and wood type and so on.Before you start to print ,you need do many preparations to verify whether your letters are in right way and whether they are fixed.

Tate Modern

Materials and objects 2 is an aspect of the Tate Modern. One of them interests me is collage. It’s very helpful for me to learn and understand more about collage.

Collage is not only to glue different paper and materials together. It’s basic. Collage looks like simple. But if you want to show the interesting and special collage, it’s not easy. You need many ideas and experiences.

It’s said that combining everyday objects and materials become a new technique for twentieth-century artists. So it’s very important for me to study and practice .We should watch our life every day and record things that you feel funny and interesting. We can collect many materials, plastic, paper, branch, leaves and so on.Don’t throw away any thing that you feel it’s rubbish.Maybe it’s reborn in your sketchbook by your hands.

LCC the first week

Since I started to study at the Lcc, it has been one week.During the five days, teachers led us to study skills tool box for design and media studies. There are many workshops and facilities in the Lcc and they are available  to students, such as library, photography, printing and so on.There are some book shelves that can move in the area of the news and journals. It’s so cool.

And I found that Lcc have many different lights when I took the ‘looking up’ photos. And some ceiling are made up from glasses. We can see the sky.

And there are something interesting at the Lcc.And at the some handrails, you can see some doodles. And when you see outside of the windows, you can see natural life around you.

I think that I can find more interesting things at the Lcc in the future.
